Cagalli & Athrun:
The relationship between Athrun and Cagalli was one that neither of them ever expected to happen or even fathomed was possible. Both were engaged for political reasons, although Cagalli's betrothal isn't revealed until the second war, and were fighting against their enemy. However, through a very fateful meeting that could have gone a number of ways differently, they grow to understand their enemies and start to doubt their own stands on the war. They stand hardfast to their beliefs while arguing, but it starts a chain reaction, especially for Athrun, that leads both of them down a different path, one they take together. Cagalli and Athrun share a special bond that developed before either of them realized it. They grew close near the end of the First Bloody Valentine War romantically, vowing to protect the other from harm. Though their relationship has had some bumps in the road, the two still care about each other more than ever before.

Cagalli & Kira:
Cagalli and Kira were separated from birth, meant never to meet one another, but fate had other things in mind. They meet quite accidentally on Heliopolis and didn't really regard the other as anybody they would run into again. However, when the Archangel ends up in joint forces with the Desert Dawn, Cagalli and Kira are thrown together once more. Cagalli and Kira immediately develop a sense to protect the other in the beginning of their friendship. This sense of protection seems very innate on both their parts. With a confession from Cagalli's father, Cagalli and Kira discover some truth to their now even cloudier past. Despite this, sibling love kicks in on both their parts. Cagalli, in the first war, acts very much like the older one, but throughout the second war, the roles switch and Kira takes on the role of the older sibling, protecting and guiding Cagalli through her most difficult challenge. They represent the dream of co-existence between the naturals and the coordinators.

Cagalli & Lacus:
Cagalli and Lacus grew to know each other through their relationships with Kira and Athrun during the Three Ship Alliance. They both have great admiration towards the other. Cagalli is impressed with Lacus' influence and ability to get assets such as the Eternal to fight for what she believes in. Lacus supports and admires Cagalli's determination to rule Orb the best that she can. They have a very sisterly relationship.

Cagalli & Yuuna:
Cagalli and Yuuna have been bethrothed since Cagalli was very little, probably out of political gain. Nothing is known of this betrothal until the second war when Yuuna is first introduced. Yuuna sees Cagalli as his way into more power and control. He patronizes her, scolds her, and treats her like he is the master over her. In my opinion, much of this abuse and the memory of her father weakens her spirit. Yuuna uses Cagalli's vulnerability when it comes to her father's memory to his advantage. Cagalli wants nothing to do with Yuuna, but is guilt tripped into agreeing to follow through with their betrothal and get married. She is led to believe that Orb will just experience the same horror of the past if she does not comply. Later, Cagalli sends out orders for Yuuna's arrest once his disposition with Logos is realized.
