Kira & Lacus:
Kira and Lacus first met when Kira rescued her lifepod from the ruins of her ship. They
instantly were kindred due to Kira's kindness to her. Kira returned Lacus to Athrun, then, her fiancee, when the
Archangel tried to use her as leverage. They met later after Kira fought Athrun in a near fatal battle. During this time,
the two got very close. Lacus helped heal Kira's physical and emotional wounds as they spoke of the war and what
they should really be fighting for. Lacus risked her reputation and life to give Kira the ZGMF-10A Freedom, causing Lacus
to be labeled a traitor. She gave him a goodbye kiss to Kira on the cheek, causing Kira to blush. Later, Kira saves Lacus'
ship, the Eternal as they were trying to escape from Zaft. During the last stages of the first war, Kira and Lacus comfort each,
bringing them closer. Lacus ends up giving Kira her ring to protect him, which is shown dangling in his helmet at the end of
the first war. For the next two years, Kira and Lacus live together with Reverend Malchio and the orphanage. During which,
it is assumed that they grow to love each, for during the second war, they are often seen gazing at each other lovingly and
protecting one another.
Kira & Athrun:
Athrun and Kira first met in preparatory school and became best friends. They meet again
as enemies, but after a near fatal duel between the two and a bit of light from their friends, Athrun and Kira talk and fight on
each other's side. Athrun is Kira's closest friend, despite the fact that they don't always see things eye to eye, they worry
about the other often, causing them to question their own actions on whether or not they are doing the right thing.
Kira & Cagalli:
Kira and Cagalli are twins, with Cagalli naturally born, and Kira born from an artificial womb,
making him the Ultimate Coordinator. They are completely oblivious of this fact and that they are even adopted until
Cagalli's adopted father, Lord Uzumi, gives her a mysterious photo, revealing that Kira is her twin brother. They remain very
supportive of the other and become close. At first, Cagalli acts like a big sister to Kira, but in the second Bloody Valentine
War, Kira takes on the role of older brother while trying to help Cagalli find a way to help her people.
Kira & Mwu La Flaga:
Kira and Mwu are comrades with Mwu acting like a fatherly figure for Kira during
the first war. He guided Kira at first during a battle, but later, just tried to give him advice on different issues.
Kira & Andrew Waltfeld:
Kira and Anrew Waltfeld have great respect for one another, their beliefs, and
fighting abilities. They started out as enemies, but ended up as comrades with the Three Ship Alliance, neither wanting
to fight for ZAFT or the Earth Alliance. They stay comrades because of their mutual belief to not pick sides with
anyone, not unless they know all the facts.
Kira & Murrue Ramius:
Kira first meets Murrue Ramius when he stumbles upon her endanger and jumps to save her. It was this meeting that
changed the path of Kira's life as well as the lives of his friends. Murrue slowly becomes a second, or rather third, mother
to Kira, which is more obvious in the second war when Murrue isn't all that constrained to formality. Though they don't
always agree, they have fought along side each other and supported each other to the point where they have pretty
much become family.
Kira & Mrs. Yamato:
Mrs. Yamato is Kira's adopted mother, but the fact simply doesn't affect their relationship. Kira ver much regards her as
his only true mother and Mrs. Yamato is just as maternal and protective over Kira as a true mother should. Little
is known of their relationship beyond that.
Kira & Fllay:
Kira and Fllay had a very complicated and somewhat messed up relationship. It was very much a relationship of lust
and vengence that was later tainted when true admiration was introduced. Kira and Fllay's relationship was significant,
but not destined. Though Kira probably did love Fllay to a point, his loyalty to her was mostly originated by his
self proclaimed duty to protect her after he had caused her so much pain that he could not undo. Misery only
resulted from his relationship with her, which was why Kira broke it off, but not because he didn't care for her. He did,
but he either realized what she was doing or simply felt he couldn't give her what she needed. Fllay, honestly, was too
lost in her suffering and fright to know what she really wanted. It wasn't until the moment that she died that things
finally came clear to her.
Kira & Mirillia:
The relationship between Kira and Mirillia is very hard to define because though they are undeniably friends, their relationship is very
much in the background. Throughout the first war, Mirillia clearly supported Kira and defended him despite his coordinator abilities. There
relationship seems to be connected through Tolle however, at least from the beginning. Mirillia returned to the Archangel and to the support
of Kira and his friends in the second war.
Kira & Sai:
Kira and Sai were quite close friends in the beginning of the first war. Although they were good friends, Sai was always weary of Kira because he was a coordinator, leaving
Sai quite jealous of him at times. Their relationship was further strained when Sai's fiancee, Fllay Allster, got together with Kira. This hurt him tremedously, which
caused problems between Kira and him. Kira often felt guilty about what had happened between them and carried that guilt even after Sai forgave Kira. Although they
had settled their differences, it is clear their relationship was still weakened two years later in the second war. Sai is never seen in the second war.
Kira & Tolle:
Kira was probably closest to Tolle out of all his friends from Heliopolis. Tolle never wavered in his support for Kira. Tolle even went so far as to always speak up, even
out of turn, to defend Kira. He even later joined Kira on the battleground to back Kira up, risking his own life and in the end losing it. Tolle's death clearly drove Kira mad, and
even drove Kira to nearly kill his best friend from childhood, Athrun Zala.
Kira & Shinn:
Kira and Shinn never formally met, but they had a tense relationship nevertheless. Kira always regarded Shinn as an uncontrollable opponent who had to be defeated.
Kira never desired to fight Shinn, even though Shinn soon became hell-bent on destroying the Freedom and its pilot. Through a series of events, including Athrun's own actions,
Shinn finally figured out what he wanted to fight for at the end of the second war. This and a meeting to formally meet Kira Yamato brought the two of them together as comrades.
